- Positive affirmations. Positive self-talk is a very important way to build your confidence. Focus on positive “I am” messages and use “I can” instead of “I can’t”. When all else fails, say, “ I can’t now, but I will soon.” Reminding yourself of your strengths and focusing on the things you like about yourself helps your confidence grow.
